Berlin Inaugurates Harald-Juhnke-Platz at Ku'damm

The square recognizes the entertainer’s legacy beside the theaters where he made his name.

Overview

  • Berlin formally dedicated the Harald-Juhnke-Platz on Monday with a public ceremony at the Kurfürstendamm, Grolmanstraße and Uhlandstraße intersection.
  • Mayor Kai Wegner delivered the keynote and jointly unveiled the street sign with Susanne Juhnke after tributes to the late performer.
  • Prominent guests from culture and politics attended, with actors Ben Becker and Karsten Speck performing songs associated with Juhnke.
  • The name has been legally in effect since September 1 following the district’s administrative process, which did not change any resident addresses.
  • The festakt was organized by Juhnke’s longtime manager Peter Wolf together with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office after a cross-party council vote in March to honor his life’s work.
