Berlin Hotel Reopens Over Two Years After Aquarium Disaster
The Radisson Collection Hotel has replaced the destroyed Aquadom aquarium with a vertical garden and undergone extensive renovations.
- The Radisson Collection Hotel in Berlin has reopened more than two years after the catastrophic collapse of its 16-meter-high Aquadom aquarium in December 2022.
- The aquarium's rupture released one million liters of water, causing extensive damage to the hotel and surrounding areas, and killing nearly all of the fish inside.
- Two people sustained minor injuries during the incident, which could have been far worse if it had occurred later in the day when the hotel was busier.
- The hotel's lobby now features a vertical garden with approximately 2,000 plants, replacing the space previously occupied by the aquarium.
- Renovations include updates to all 427 rooms, 15 meeting spaces, a new spa, and the addition of a Greek restaurant, with many former staff members returning to work.
