Berlin Hotel Reopens Over Two Years After Aquarium Disaster

The Radisson Collection Hotel has replaced the destroyed Aquadom aquarium with a vertical garden and undergone extensive renovations.

The Radisson Collection Hotel in Berlin has reopened more than two years after the catastrophic collapse of its 16-meter-high Aquadom aquarium in December 2022.
The aquarium's rupture released one million liters of water, causing extensive damage to the hotel and surrounding areas, and killing nearly all of the fish inside.
Two people sustained minor injuries during the incident, which could have been far worse if it had occurred later in the day when the hotel was busier.
The hotel's lobby now features a vertical garden with approximately 2,000 plants, replacing the space previously occupied by the aquarium.
Renovations include updates to all 427 rooms, 15 meeting spaces, a new spa, and the addition of a Greek restaurant, with many former staff members returning to work.
