Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Undergo Major Rail Disruptions for Two Months

Construction work starting February 17 will limit train services on the station's lower level, including full closures on two weekends.

The lower level of Berlin Hauptbahnhof will operate at half capacity from February 17 to April 22 due to construction work, with only four of eight tracks available at any given time.
Complete closures of the lower level are scheduled for March 21-24 and April 18-22, affecting long-distance train services.
Long-distance trains will be rerouted to other Berlin stations during the full closures, while regional trains will face diversions and canceled stops.
The construction includes installing six new track switches and two signals to improve train flexibility, speed, and capacity at the station.
These upgrades are part of Deutsche Bahn's broader infrastructure program to address increasing rail traffic and improve punctuality across Germany.
