Overview
- A blaze erupted around 3:36 p.m. Tuesday in a second-floor apartment on Residenzstraße, where burning furnishings produced heavy smoke.
- With the stairwell impassable, crews used a 30-meter turntable ladder to evacuate the pair from the floor above.
- Firefighters extinguished the fire, ventilated and inspected the remaining apartments, and had the scene under control by about 4:30 p.m.
- Emergency medics examined the woman and infant and reported both were uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.
- About 30 responders took part in the operation, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
