Berlin Film Festival Unveils 'Perspectives' Section for Debut Features

New competitive strand to spotlight emerging filmmakers as part of Berlinale's strategic revamp.

The 'Perspectives' section will feature up to 14 debut films from around the world.
A jury of three will award the best first feature with a €50,000 prize, split between producers and directors.
Preference will be given to world premieres, though other debuts may also be considered.
The section replaces the Encounters strand, which focused on experimental cinema.
Festival Director Tricia Tuttle aims to provide a global platform for fresh, bold cinematic voices.
