Berlin Exhibition Recreates Nova Festival Attack Ahead of Second Anniversary

Using recovered objects at Tempelhof, the installation honors victims, sustaining focus on hostages.

Overview

  • Curated by Reut Feingold, the three-part show at the former Tempelhof airport reconstructs the festival with authentic tents, burned cars, the original DJ canopy and attendees’ phones playing footage.
  • A memorial section displays portraits and personal items of victims and hostages, including 24-year-old dual national Alon Ohel, whose parents say he was taken near the site and remains captive.
  • The program closes with a Healing Room offering activities such as sound healing, yoga, painting and drawing to support recovery.
  • According to the exhibition’s organizers, 411 people were killed at the festival, hundreds were injured and more than 40 were abducted, while Israeli authorities say 48 people are still held in the Gaza Strip.
  • The traveling exhibition previously appeared in cities including New York, where protests were reported, and its Berlin stop follows large local demonstrations over the Gaza war and continuing rallies in Israel urging action to free hostages.
