Overview
- The Bundespolizei carried out 9,542 security checks at twelve Berlin train stations between May 26 and July 31 under a temporary weapons-carrying ban.
- During this period officers seized 704 prohibited items, including 369 knives, 44 bludgeoning weapons, 17 other weapons and 12 pyrotechnic devices.
- Authorities recorded 343 breaches of the station ban order and 231 violations of Germany’s Weapons Act.
- The operation also uncovered 341 criminal offences—including 202 violent crimes and 185 drug-related cases—and 154 residency infractions.
- Since July 17 a permanent ban prohibits all knives and weapons on trains and platforms across the city’s public transport network.
