- Dylan accepted the honor and said, “Thank you, Berklee College of Music, for bestowing on me this prestigious honor. What a pleasant surprise.”
- Berklee President Jim Lucchese said Dylan’s music “has shaped how the world hears itself” and called the recognition “an incredible moment” for the college.
- The college says there are no plans for Dylan to appear at related events, and a Berklee spokesperson told the Globe he has already received the honor.
- Berklee will stage a tribute Wednesday at 8 p.m. titled “Watching the River Flow: A Roots Salute to Bob Dylan,” featuring students, faculty, alumni and guest artists performing his songs.
- The American Roots Music Program highlights Dylan’s deep engagement with American traditions, and local scholars Christopher Ricks and Richard Thomas will receive program honors during the concert.
