Overview
- Episode 2, titled 'Die Laughing', aired on Thursday and centres on a dead body found on the roof of a comedy club with clues including a head wound, scuff marks and a fire extinguisher lodged in a windscreen.
- Channel 5 confirmed Denise Welch and Alistair McGowan as guest stars in the episode, playing a club owner and a faded game-show star respectively.
- John Hannah has told press the series links threads across episodes and will grow darker as it goes, and he has also suggested he prefers a two-series run for the show.
- Early viewer reaction online is split, with some users calling the tone hammy or too slapstick and others enjoying the light, Death in Paradise–style vibe.
- Created by Ian Jarvis, the six-part series pairs Hannah’s burned-out ex-detective with barmaid Rosa and will continue to air on Channel 5 on Thursday nights at 9pm as a mix of stand‑alone mysteries and longer character arcs.
