Overview

  • On May 19 the Juzgado de Violencia sobre la Mujer nº 1 de Benidorm formally archived the inquiry into alleged gender violence by ex-ministerial adviser Koldo García against his former partner Patricia Uriz.
  • The court issued its resolution without summoning either García or Uriz and in the absence of any formal complaint from the alleged victim.
  • The investigation had been triggered by a UCO report forwarded by National Court judge Ismael Moreno but was ruled jurisdictionally and evidentially insubstantial.
  • Both García and Uriz’s legal teams have denied any violence and warned that leaks of the UCO’s documents have caused emotional and reputational harm.
  • García remains under investigation in the Supreme Court’s Operation Delorme corruption probe into pandemic mask contracts that has ensnared several PSOE figures.
