Bengaluru Yellow Line Service Restored After Three-Hour Metro Glitch

BMRCL says the 19.15-km corridor that expanded the network to 96.1 km is expected to see headways improve as new trainsets are inducted.

Overview

  • Trains ran at 25-minute intervals from 10:15 am until normal operations resumed at 1:58 pm, according to BMRCL.
  • The agency urged passengers to cooperate during the disruption and later announced that services were back on schedule.
  • Titagarh Rail Systems has dispatched all six coaches of the fifth trainset, which is expected to enter passenger service by mid-October.
  • A senior BMRCL official said the sixth trainset is likely to be dispatched in early November due to bogie-supply delays, after motor safety certification issues were resolved.
  • The Yellow Line connects RV Road and Bommasandra and carries about 84,000 riders daily, with the seventh and eighth trainsets in outfitment and bogies planned for sea shipment.
