Bengaluru Traffic Police Launch E-Accident Report on ASTraM App

The feature targets faster insurance processing with fewer visits to traffic stations.

Overview

  • The in-app tool lets motorists self-report minor, vehicle-only accidents and receive an instant official acknowledgement.
  • Users enter the date and time, pin the location, add a brief note, upload a photo of the damage, and submit the report.
  • Each report generates a unique ID, passkey, QR code, and short link that insurers can use to verify authenticity.
  • The option applies only to minor accidents without injuries, and the app directs serious cases to call 112.
  • Police say the system is intended to cut roughly 150–200 daily station requests for accident acknowledgements across the city, following a rollout announced on social media and highlighted at an event where Home Minister G. Parameshwara received 50 patrol bikes from the Honda India Foundation.
