Bengaluru SUV Driver Booked After Dragging Motorbike 500 Metres on Outer Ring Road

Police seized the vehicle, filed BNS and Motor Vehicles Act cases, with the accused now on bail.

  • Police say a Hyundai Creta driven by 38-year-old Srinivasa K. V. hit a Royal Enfield near the Sumanahalli flyover around 7:15 p.m. on December 24 and dragged it for about half a kilometre, causing a chain collision.
  • Dashcam footage captured the motorcycle lodged under the SUV with sparks visible beneath the vehicle, according to reports.
  • The rider, identified as 32-year-old Rohith S., suffered injuries to his chest, hands and legs and is undergoing treatment in stable condition.
  • Commuters chased down the SUV, broke a window to pull the driver out and assaulted him before handing him over to Kamakshipalya traffic police.
  • Kamakshipalya police registered FIRs under BNS Sections 281 and 125(a) and for drunk driving under the Motor Vehicles Act, seized the SUV, said a breath analyser test indicated alcohol, will seek licence cancellation, and confirmed the accused is out on bail.
