Bengaluru Prison Warder Arrested Over Alleged Contraband Smuggling at Parappana Agrahara

Investigators are examining possible supply links following a gate screening that flagged him.

Overview

  • KSISF guards detained warder Rahul Patil around 6:50 p.m. Friday at the main entrance after repeated metal-detector alerts during frisking.
  • A search recovered two cigarette packs and about 60 grams of saturated absorbent paper suspected to be used with narcotics.
  • Prison Superintendent Paramesh filed a complaint, Patil was suspended, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act and Karnataka Prisons Act.
  • Patil is lodged in Parappana Agrahara pending bail and had been transferred from Belagavi to the Bengaluru prison in June 2025.
  • The arrest follows other staff-linked smuggling cases, and state police chief M. A. Saleem has issued another guideline circular to curb such breaches.
