Bengaluru Police Raid 19 Bars and Restaurants, File 15 FIRs Over Norm Breaches

  • On June 19, 11 special police teams raided 19 bars and restaurants in West Zone localities including M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Ashok Nagar, Upparpet, Kalasipalya and Majestic following credible tip-offs.
  • Officers found provocatively dressed female servers, venues operating beyond the 1 a.m. deadline, absence of designated smoking zones and lack of appointed female security guards.
  • Fifteen separate FIRs were registered against the establishments for violating licensing conditions and immoral activity guidelines.
  • Customers breaching the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act were fined on the spot, and reports have been sent to station courts for further legal action against owners.
  • Police will continue strict monitoring of the targeted venues and may move to cancel licenses if any further infractions are detected.
