Bengaluru Police Book Man Over CCTV-Captured Killing of Stray Puppy in JP Nagar

Police say a summons is pending, with welfare groups reporting other missing puppies.

Puttenahalli Police identified the suspect as Nepal Kiran and registered a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
CCTV from around 1:45 a.m. on January 9 appears to show the puppy being smashed against a wall and stamped on the neck, according to footage reviewed by The Hindu.
Local feeders Gopinath and Krishnamurthy alerted South Bengaluru Cares, which filed the complaint and submitted the video as evidence.
An investigating officer said notice has not yet been served to the accused, who will be summoned for questioning.
Animal welfare volunteers reported that one puppy’s body was recovered and others from the group are missing, prompting calls for stern action.
