Bengaluru Police Arrest Three Over Assault on Worker Wearing Saffron Towel

Bengaluru police have booked the miscreants under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assaulting the agency workers.

  • The alleged assault occurred around 9:30 pm on August 24 outside the Royal Travels office opposite the Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand in Bengaluru.
  • The complainant, supervisor Harikrishna, said a migrant colleague from Bihar, Slinder/Slindher Kumar, was confronted over his saffron towel and both were assaulted when he intervened.
  • Police identified the accused as Tabrez, 30, Imran Khan, 35, and Ajeez (Azeej) Khan, 47, and arrested them following the registration of the case.
  • An initial non-cognizable report was converted into an FIR on August 25 with local court permission after a video circulated and community groups pressed for action.
  • The FIR cites Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 115(2), 302, 352 and 3(5); a police official said the trio are in 15-day judicial custody, the injuries were minor, and the investigation is ongoing.
