Overview

  • 26-year-old Gurudeep Singh, a hotel management graduate from KR Puram, was taken into custody on July 10 by Banashankari police under voyeurism and IT Act charges.
  • The anonymous Instagram handle @indianwalk1m had uploaded over 57 non-consensual reels featuring women walking in central Bengaluru locations such as Church Street, MG Road and Koramangala.
  • A suo motu FIR was registered on June 12 under Section 78(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the IT Act after netizens and a female student tagged the Bengaluru City Police and Cyber Crime CID.
  • The suspect’s posts have since been deleted and his phone is undergoing forensic analysis as investigators prepare to seek judicial intervention to force Meta to disable the account.
  • This case, following a similar metro-voyeurism arrest in May, underscores ongoing safety gaps for women in public spaces and challenges in policing online harassment.
