Bengaluru Metro to Induct Fifth Yellow Line Train on Nov. 1, Cutting Peak Waits to 15 Minutes

The move aims to ease crowding on the 19‑km RV Road–Bommasandra corridor that links southern Bengaluru and Electronics City.

Overview

  • BMRCL confirmed the fifth train will enter commercial service on November 1 to coincide with Karnataka Rajyotsava.
  • Peak-hour frequency on the Yellow Line will improve from every 19 minutes to every 15 minutes, with the change applying on all days.
  • First and last train timings from RV Road and Bommasandra will remain unchanged despite the additional train.
  • The trainset was dispatched by Titagarh Rail Systems on September 19, arrived at Hebbagodi depot on September 30, and completed about 20 days of testing.
  • Trains on the corridor are equipped with CBTC for potential closer headways, though services continue to be operated manually.
