Overview

  • J. Ravi Shankar led a July 31 inspection of the Phase-2B Airport Metro Line, assessing viaducts, stations and depot works and instructing contractors to meet strict deadlines and safety norms.
  • The airport corridor from Hebbal to Kempegowda International Airport is expected to ease congestion by offering a rapid transit alternative to road travel.
  • The 19.15 km Yellow Line received statutory safety approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety after a three-day audit of power systems, signalling, tracks and station amenities.
  • Initial Yellow Line service will deploy three driverless trains at 20-minute intervals, with plans to ramp up to five-minute peak-hour headways by March 2026.
  • BMRCL aims to inaugurate the Yellow Line on August 15—potentially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance—and reach full-frequency operations by March 2026.
