Overview
- A 52-year-old security guard fell onto the Yellow Line track at Ragigudda station around 11:10 a.m. on August 25 and was pulled to safety without injury.
- Another guard immediately hit the Emergency Trip Switch to cut power and halt an incoming train, causing a service disruption of about six minutes.
- CCTV video circulating online shows the guard walking on the platform with his eyes closed, and BMRCL sources said he had worked nearly 16 hours with only a short rest.
- BMRCL relieved the guard from duty, questioned the station manager, and opened an internal inquiry into how extended shifts were allowed.
- The incident renewed calls for shorter shifts and better platform protections, with recent barricades added at R. V. Road but most stations still lacking screen doors.
