Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express Derailment in Odisha Leaves One Dead, Seven Injured

Eleven coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed near Nergundi Station in Odisha's Cuttack district on March 30, 2025, at 11:54 AM local time.
One passenger, identified as 22-year-old Suvankar Roy, died, and seven others were injured in the accident, with medical assistance provided at the site.
Emergency services, including the National Disaster Response Force and fire services, were swiftly mobilized, and relief trains were dispatched to assist affected passengers.
The Railways announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹5 lakh for the deceased, ₹2.5 lakh for the seriously injured, and ₹50,000 for those with minor injuries.
Restoration work is underway to resume normal train operations, with several routes diverted and alternate arrangements made for stranded passengers.
