Bengaluru Installs AI Billboard at Trinity Circle to Display Traffic Dues in Real Time

The pilot pairs number-plate scanning with the VAHAN database to nudge drivers toward compliance.

Overview

  • The system captures number plates from up to about 100 meters away and retrieves VAHAN records in roughly 10 seconds to show unpaid e-challans and expired PUCs.
  • The rollout is a pilot at Trinity Circle run by Bengaluru Traffic Police with Cars24, with support from CrashFree India and Monday Ventures.
  • Police and campaign organizers say the real-time exposure is intended to prompt more responsible driving rather than act as punishment.
  • Cars24 co-founder Gajendra Jangid framed the effort as encouraging everyday responsibility on the road through immediate feedback.
  • Authorities cite heavy violation volumes this year, including about 45 lakh cases and more than Rs 1,150 crore in fines from January to August 2025.
