• Sharanappa, 34, a City Armed Reserve head constable who drove the escort vehicle for Karnataka Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, was found dead at his rented home under Byatarayanapura police limits in Bengaluru.
• DCP (West) S. Girish said no suicide note was recovered and that police are verifying all possible angles.
• He had handed over his escort duty earlier that day, informing colleagues he needed to go to Mantralaya for personal work.
• His brother-in-law discovered the body at the Bapuji Nagar residence, and Byatarayanapura police have registered a case.
• He is survived by his wife, Shailashree, a Magadi Road Traffic Police constable, and their two children, and he had served about two and a half years as Ashok’s driver.
