Bengaluru Extends Metro, Late-Night Buses for New Year’s Eve as M. G. Road Station Closes at 10 p.m.

The plan prioritizes crowd control near MG Road through a 10 p.m. closure with late-night boarding shifted to Trinity and Cubbon Park.

Overview

  • BMRCL will run extended services on the Purple, Green, and Yellow lines, with last trains on the Purple and Green lines operating until 2 a.m. on January 1.
  • The Yellow Line’s final departure from R. V. Road to Bommasandra is scheduled at 3:10 a.m., and Majestic will dispatch last trains at 2:45 a.m. toward all four directions on the Purple and Green lines.
  • Train frequency during the extended period is set at eight minutes on the Purple and Green lines and 15 minutes on the Yellow line, though reports differ on when the higher-frequency window begins.
  • Token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park will stop after 11 p.m., with riders urged to purchase return tickets in advance or use QR tickets or smart cards with sufficient balance.
  • BMTC will operate special midnight buses from M. G. Road and Brigade Road roughly 11 p.m.–2 a.m. to connect revellers to key corridors across the city, subject to traffic conditions.
