Bengaluru CCB Arrests Six in Realtor’s Abduction and ₹2.9 Lakh Extortion

Police say a loan dispute triggered the crime, with investigators scrutinizing repeat offenders’ links and the coerced bank transfers.

Overview

  • The Central Crime Branch detained six suspects after a 25-year-old realtor reported being abducted and forced to transfer roughly ₹2.9 lakh.
  • Those arrested are Rajesh Kumar (alias Appi/J D Mara Appi), Srinivas (alias Bombay Seena), Lokesh (alias Loki), Naveen, Somaiah and Yukesh.
  • Four of the suspects are registered rowdy-sheeters, and police are checking whether they are connected to similar offences.
  • Investigators say Manoj Kumar was lured on August 26 to Modi Hospital Road, driven through Nelamangala and Dabaspet, confined in a lodge, and compelled to transfer about ₹2.96 lakh.
  • The group allegedly demanded a further ₹10 lakh before releasing him the next day, after which he filed a complaint that led to kidnapping and extortion charges; police are also verifying the reported film-director link behind the original loan.
