Bengaluru CCB Arrests 11 Over IPL Ticket Black Market at RCBCSK Match

Police say the new m-ticketing trail is guiding a wider probe into resale networks.

Overview

  • The Central Crime Branch’s special squad arrested 11 during the RCB–CSK game at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 5.
  • Officers registered seven cases across Cubbon Park and Chamarajapet police station limits and seized 28 tickets, eight phones and WhatsApp screenshots valued at Rs 4.53 lakh.
  • Police named the accused and said most worked in small groups that bought in bulk and flipped seats at steep markups, including Rs 5,000 tickets sold for up to Rs 50,000.
  • Investigators said sellers used multiple booking links, proxy identities and password sharing that let buyers log in and download tickets despite transfer limits.
  • Police will keep watch on social platforms and apps to trace the source of booking links and any wider resale network, using digital trails from the IPL’s mobile m‑ticket system.
