Bengaluru Businessman Pays Rs 38 Lakh Tax on Celebrity Rolls-Royces

It comes after an RTO drive uncovered years of unregistered use with unpaid Karnataka road tax

Overview

  • RTO Joint Commissioner M Shobha’s team visited Yusuf Sharif’s residence on July 23 and issued a combined Rs 38.3 lakh fine for two out-of-state Rolls-Royces.
  • Sharif settled the dues by cheque on the same day, paying Rs 19.8 lakh for the Phantom (MH 02-BB-0002) and Rs 18.5 lakh for the Ghost (MH 11-AX-0001).
  • Both vehicles remain officially registered in the names of Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan despite being owned and used by Sharif.
  • Officials confirmed the Phantom has operated in Bengaluru since 2021 and the Ghost since 2023, each exceeding the state’s 12-month re-registration deadline.
  • Transport authorities have urged other out-of-state vehicle owners to comply with Karnataka’s re-registration and tax rules to avoid similar penalties.
