- Ramamurthy Nagar police say Ganavi, also known as Rashi, died after being found hanging at her parental home, and a case was registered against her husband Suraj and his family for dowry death, harassment, and abetment to suicide.
- Her parents allege sustained pressure over jewellery and a reception at Palace Grounds costing about Rs 40 lakh, and relatives later staged a protest outside the in-laws’ home before police dispersed the gathering.
- The couple’s Sri Lanka honeymoon, planned for 10 days, ended five days early for reasons investigators are still evaluating, after which Ganavi stayed with her parents.
- Following her death, Suraj traveled to Nagpur with his mother Jayanthi and brother Sanjay, where Suraj was found dead and Jayanthi allegedly attempted suicide and remains in critical condition.
- Nagpur authorities conducted a post-mortem and registered an Unnatural Death Report, with police noting no death note was recovered as investigators in both states collect statements and medical and forensic evidence.
