Overview
- BWSSB has shut Cauvery Stage V pumping from 1 am on September 15 to 1 pm on September 17 for scheduled emergency maintenance.
 - Additional works will halt Stages I–IV (Phase 1 and 2) from 6 am on September 16 to 6 am on September 17, further reducing supply during that window.
 - Residents in areas dependent on Cauvery supply have been advised to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously.
 - The maintenance aims to protect long-term service across a network that supplies about 1,460 MLD, with Stage V expected to add roughly 750 MLD when fully brought online.
 - BWSSB notes the system is energy intensive, costing nearly ₹3 crore daily to pump water about 90 km uphill, as the state also explores extensions such as service to 250 villages in Kanakapura taluk.
