Bengaluru Bans Meat Sales Near Yelahanka for Aero India 2025
The month-long restriction aims to prevent bird strikes during Asia's largest airshow, scheduled for February 10-14.
- The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has prohibited the sale and serving of meat within a 13-kilometer radius of Yelahanka Air Force Station from January 23 to February 17.
- The ban is intended to reduce the risk of bird strikes, as discarded meat and food waste attract scavenger birds that could endanger aircraft during the airshow.
- Aero India 2025, organized by India's Ministry of Defence, will feature aerial displays, exhibitions, and a Defence Ministers' Conclave with participation from global aerospace and defense companies.
- The event, scheduled from February 10-14, will host over 800 exhibitors, 53 aircraft, and is expected to draw more than 7 lakh visitors.
- Strict penalties under the BBMP Act 2020 and Indian Aircraft Rules 1937 will be enforced for violations of the ban.
