Bengals Place Andrei Iosivas on IR After Torn Thumb Ligament

Surgery with a roughly four- to six-week recovery will force Cincinnati to reshuffle its receiving depth.

Overview

  • Coach Zac Taylor confirmed late Wednesday that Iosivas tore a ligament in his thumb during Cincinnati’s Week 2 win over the Texans and underwent surgery Sept. 23.
  • The Bengals will place Iosivas on short-term injured reserve, which requires a minimum four-game absence and is expected to keep him out about four to six weeks.
  • Iosivas had minimal production in 2026 with three catches for 19 yards but was a durable complementary receiver from 2023–25 and held the third-highest snap share among Bengals wideouts.
  • Cincinnati will look to internal options such as Colbie Young, Dohnte Meyers and Ke’Shawn Williams and to heavier multiple-tight-end packages to cover Iosivas’ snaps.
  • The roster change arrives with the Bengals 2-0 to start the season and is considered short term, with coach Zac Taylor expecting Iosivas to return later this year.
