Bengal Speaker Says Partha Chatterjee to Sit as Independent With No Special Privileges

The suspended TMC leader, newly out on bail after more than three years in custody, has asked to attend the winter session as procedural clearances for his return are still pending.

Speaker Biman Banerjee said Partha Chatterjee will receive only standard MLA facilities and will not be allotted an exclusive room in the Assembly.
As an independent legislator, he will be seated between the treasury and opposition benches rather than with either bloc.
Chatterjee has written to the Speaker seeking the winter session schedule, signalling his intention to participate.
He has also written to Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee and Subrata Bakshi seeking the basis of his TMC suspension, and he has not received a reply.
Assembly officials say required formal notifications, including release intimation and related paperwork, are still outstanding, delaying seat allotment and restoration of his MLA salary.
