  • On June 19 in Budge Budge, Majumdar’s convoy was besieged with stones, bricks and shoes by protesters he linked to TMC, prompting him to label the situation “emergency-like”.
  • He accused Diamond Harbour SP Rahul Goswami and other police of willful negligence for not intervening to protect his convoy during the attack.
  • On June 20 in Bhabanipur, Kolkata Police intercepted and briefly detained Majumdar and London-based Dr Rajat Subhra Banerjee as they defied restrictions to mark Paschim Banga Diwas.
  • Majumdar wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging a “serious breach of privilege” and a direct threat to his life from state-backed violence and obstruction.
  • The BJP’s observance of June 20 as Paschim Banga Diwas, based on a central notification, remains contested by the TMC’s choice of Poila Baisakh, underscoring deeper ideological divisions.
