Ben Stiller Donates Stiller & Meara Archives to National Comedy Center Ahead of ‘Nothing Is Lost’ Streaming Debut

Drawn from decades of family archives, the project became a way to process loss.

Overview

  • Ben Stiller has given Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara’s career materials to the National Comedy Center, which plans to preserve and exhibit the collection.
  • The donation comes just before the Apple TV+ release of Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, his documentary about his parents’ partnership and home life.
  • Stiller began by filming his parents’ New York apartment in 2020 after his father’s death, evolving the footage into a feature built from home movies, recordings, photos and letters.
  • He describes the film as his first documentary and a challenging process that prompted candid reflection on his parenting, marriage and the demands of show business.
  • The film opened in select theaters on Oct. 17 and will stream globally on Apple TV+ on Oct. 24.
