Ben Lively Signs One-Year Contract with Cleveland Guardians

The right-hander's signing comes as the Guardians' pitching staff undergoes changes, with more trades possible in the offseason.

Ben Lively, a free agent right-hander, has agreed to a $750,000 one-year contract with the Cleveland Guardians.
Lively, 31, split the last season between Cincinnati and Triple-A Louisville, with a 4-7 record and a 5.38 ERA in 12 starts for the Reds.
He also had three stints on the injured list in 2023.
Lively was initially drafted by Cincinnati in 2013, traded to Philadelphia two years later, and spent 2 1/2 seasons pitching with the Samsung Lions in South Korea before re-signing with the Reds.
The Guardians' pitching staff could see more changes in the offseason with possible trades, having already traded starter Cal Quantrill to Colorado and reliever Enyel De Los Santos to San Diego for Scott Barlow.
