Beloved Theodore Too Tugboat Partially Sinks at Ontario Dock

The life-sized replica of the iconic children's TV character is undergoing efforts to be safely refloated after taking on water in St. Catharines.

  • Theodore Too, a 20-meter replica of the Theodore Tugboat character from a CBC children's TV show, partially sank at the Port Weller Dry Docks in St. Catharines, Ontario.
  • The vessel began taking on water late Tuesday night and is now partially submerged in shallow water, resting in the mud beside a dock.
  • The cause of the incident remains unclear, but owner Blair McKeil, CEO of Breakwater Financial, has assured that plans are underway to safely refloat the tugboat.
  • Built in Nova Scotia in 2000, Theodore Too has served as a traveling ambassador for marine conservation and career awareness, visiting over 20 ports since relocating to Ontario in 2021.
  • Efforts have been made to mitigate any potential environmental impact, and the public will be kept informed about the tugboat's recovery progress.
