Beloved NY1 anchor Ruschell Boone dies at 48 after brave pancreatic cancer battle

Ruschell Boone joined NY1 in 2002 and became an anchor in 2021.
She took a leave of absence in June 2022 to undergo cancer treatment but returned to work in March 2023.
In July 2023, she announced her cancer had worsened and she passed away shortly after.
Boone was known for her coverage of diverse communities and major events in New York City.
She won multiple journalism awards over her distinguished career.
