Beloved Falcon Nox Dies After Release Back Into the Wild

Nox, the peregrine falcon nursed to health at UC Davis, was found dead just days after being released following rehabilitation for a broken wing.

Nox was a popular peregrine falcon hatched at UC Berkeley, known for his appearances on a live webcam feed.
He underwent surgery and rehabilitation at UC Davis after being found injured in July at Berkeley Marina.
Despite a successful initial release on October 18, Nox was recaptured suffering from acute emaciation and died on October 23.
UC Davis specialists are conducting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Advancements in veterinary medicine had enabled Nox's recovery and initial return to the wild, highlighting progress in avian care.
