Beloved Crime Series 'Kommissar Rex' Returns After 20-Year Hiatus

New episodes of the iconic show will air in 2025, featuring a revamped cast and extended film-length format.

Sat.1 and ORF have announced the return of 'Kommissar Rex' with new episodes set to premiere in spring 2025.
The series will be filmed in Vienna and feature Maximilian Brückner as lead investigator Max Steiner, alongside Ferdinand Seebacher as Inspector Felix Burger.
The new episodes will be presented in a movie-length format, a shift from the original series' standard runtime.
All ten seasons of the original 'Kommissar Rex' are now available for free streaming on the platform Joyn.
The 1990s cult show, which has been sold in 125 markets and inspired international spin-offs, remains a global phenomenon.
