Belkin Sets Jan. 31 Shutdown for Wemo Cloud, Urges Last‑Minute HomeKit Setup

Users with eligible devices must pull HomeKit setup codes now to preserve local control.

Overview

  • Belkin is disabling the Wemo app and cloud services on January 31, ending remote access and Alexa/Google integrations for most devices.
  • Wemo units already configured with Apple HomeKit will continue to work locally through the Home app, but new HomeKit setup will not be possible after the cutoff.
  • HomeKit setup codes must be retrieved from the Wemo app before it goes dark, or those devices cannot be migrated.
  • Four Thread/Matter-capable models are unaffected and will keep working with compatible controllers, including the WLS0503 switch, WSC010 controller, WSP100 plug, and WDC010 video doorbell.
  • Belkin says products still under warranty on or after January 31 may qualify for partial refunds, while many of the more than two dozen affected items—some sold as recently as 2023—will need replacement or recycling.
