Beech Grove Woman Charged After Dog Found Dead in Chemical-Filled Tote

Court records say Kiley Dodd admitted placing her dead dog in a tote after first blaming someone else.

Overview

  • Police responded to the 200 block of South 6th Avenue after a report that a blue tote with a dead dog had been left at a workplace.
  • Officers found the dog wrapped in blankets and covered in an unidentified chemical with maggots present, according to the affidavit.
  • Dodd initially told police someone else left the tote and claimed there was a note, but the person she named denied involvement.
  • After being confronted with discrepancies, Dodd said she found her dog dead on Sept. 26, wrapped it, and put it in a tote intending to bury it.
  • She was arrested on a Class A misdemeanor cruelty-to-an-animal charge, posted a $150 bond, and animal control took custody of the remains.
