Becky Sauerbrunn Extends Contract with Portland Thorns for Another Year

The four-time NWSL Defender of the Year commits to another season with the Thorns, marking her fifth year with the club.

Veteran defender Becky Sauerbrunn has re-signed with the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) for the upcoming season.
Sauerbrunn, a four-time NWSL Defender of the Year, has played for the Thorns for the past four seasons, starting in 39 of 42 appearances.
During her NWSL career, Sauerbrunn has won three championships, two with the now-defunct FC Kansas City and one with Portland in 2022.
Sauerbrunn has also had a successful international career, playing in 217 matches for the United States and winning two World Cup titles and an Olympic gold medal.
Sauerbrunn was unavailable to play for the United States at the World Cup last summer due to a foot injury.
