Beaver Supermoon on Nov. 5 Will Be 2025’s Closest, Brightest Full Moon

Peak illumination comes at 8:19 a.m. ET, coinciding with the Southern Taurids’ fireball‑prone peak.

Overview

  • The full Beaver Moon turns 100% full Wednesday at about 8:19–8:20 a.m. ET at roughly 221,817–221,818 miles from Earth, the year’s nearest full moon.
  • For North America, the most striking views are expected at dusk moonrises on Nov. 5 and especially Nov. 6, when the Moon lifts low in the east about 30 minutes after sunset.
  • Bright moonlight will wash out most faint meteors, yet the Southern Taurids peaking this week can still deliver slow, bright fireballs, according to the American Meteorological Society.
  • NASA notes that supermoons can look up to about 14% larger and 30% brighter than the faintest full moons, with only slight and generally unnoticeable increases in tides.
  • This Beaver Moon is the second in a late‑2025 trio of supermoons, with the Cold Moon following on Dec. 4.
