Overview
- The Chicago Bears officially activated Ozzy Trapilo off the Physically Unable to Perform list on Sunday, clearing him to return to team workouts after his January knee injury.
- Trapilo took part in individual drills at practice but did not yet join full-team or padded work as the club manages a cautious ramp-up.
- Because he was removed from PUP he cannot be placed back on that list this season, so any major setback would require an injured-reserve designation.
- His return adds a new contender to the left-tackle competition that includes Braxton Jones, Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills Jr., and could change who protects QB Caleb Williams if Trapilo progresses in padded sessions.
- The team also processed injury-settlement waivers for K.C. Eziomume, Kyron Hudson and Gervarrius Owens the same day, and coaches will use upcoming padded and joint practices to judge Trapilo’s readiness for Week 1.
