Beachgoer Killed by Police Vehicle in Myrtle Beach
A woman was fatally struck by an Horry County Police truck while it was driving onto the beach from Nash Street.
- The incident occurred near Springmaid Pier, with the police truck hitting the woman as she faced east.
- Bystanders attempted to lift the truck off the woman, who was pinned beneath one of the wheels.
- The woman was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
- The police officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
- This is not the first such incident; a similar accident occurred on Horry County beaches in 2020.
