Beachgoer Killed by Police Vehicle in Myrtle Beach

A woman was fatally struck by an Horry County Police truck while it was driving onto the beach from Nash Street.

The incident occurred near Springmaid Pier, with the police truck hitting the woman as she faced east.
Bystanders attempted to lift the truck off the woman, who was pinned beneath one of the wheels.
The woman was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The police officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
This is not the first such incident; a similar accident occurred on Horry County beaches in 2020.
