Overview
- The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú presented a commemorative silver coin honoring the Glorioso Colegio de Educandas del Cusco’s bicentennial as a special 2026 issuance meant for collectors.
- The issuance was formalized in Circular N.° 0022-2026-BCRP published in El Peruano, which gives the piece legal tender status and limits production to a maximum of 5,000 units.
- Technical specifications set by the BCRP list sterling silver 0.925, a fine weight of half a troy ounce, a 33 mm diameter, Proof finish, a reeded edge and the year of issue 2026.
- The coin’s obverse shows the national Coat of Arms, the BCRP name, the year 2026 and the inscription “Un Sol,” while the reverse bears the bicentennial inscription, the 1825–2025 dates, the commemoration logo and the Capilla de San Juan de Dios gateway image.
- The BCRP says the piece will be sold above face value and that the commercial price will be published on its online store and may change with production costs; one outlet reported an initial price of S/159.
