BCCI Sets Nov. 3 Deadline in Asia Cup Trophy Dispute and Warns of ICC Escalation

India's refusal to take the cup from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi at the presentation triggered the dispute.

Overview

  • BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board will raise the issue at the ICC meeting in Dubai on November 4 if the trophy is not delivered by November 3.
  • Saikia said BCCI wrote to the ACC chair about ten days ago requesting an immediate handover but has still not received the trophy.
  • At the September 28 presentation, an official removed the trophy from the dais after India declined to accept it from Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's interior minister.
  • Naqvi has signaled the cup should be collected in person from the ACC office and has floated a formal presentation, according to media reports.
  • The trophy is reported to have been moved from the ACC's Dubai headquarters to a location in Abu Dhabi.
