BCCI Moves Syed Mushtaq Ali Knockouts From Indore to Pune Over Hotel Crunch

The move follows MPCA citing a doctors' conference in Indore that has squeezed hotel availability.

Overview

  • The Dec 12–18 knockout matches will now be played at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje and the Dr DY Patil Academy ground in Ambi near Pune.
  • MPCA told the BCCI about a fortnight ago that it could not stage the games due to a Dec 9–12 conference reducing hotel room supply.
  • An ongoing IndiGo operational crisis, with roughly 1,000 flights delayed or cancelled, could complicate travel for teams, umpires and officials to Pune.
  • Rohit Sharma has informed Mumbai he wants to join for the knockouts and is expected to travel after the ODI decider in Visakhapatnam on December 6.
  • Mumbai topped Elite Group A to reach the knockouts, with Shardul Thakur leading the side in this SMAT season.
