BCCI Finalises 2025–26 Domestic Season and New Zealand White-Ball Tour

New promotion–relegation rules paired with a Super League stage will heighten domestic competition before India’s January series against New Zealand.

Overview

  • The 2025–26 domestic season runs from the zonal-format Duleep Trophy on August 28, 2025, through to the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on April 3, 2026.
  • The Ranji Trophy will feature a single promotion–relegation berth between Elite and Plate groups and will be contested in two phases (October 15–November 19, 2025, and January 22–February 1, 2026) ahead of a February 6–28 knockout stage.
  • The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will replace its traditional knockout stage with a Super League to guarantee qualifying teams three extra matches.
  • A Plate division has been reintroduced across all one-day competitions, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare trophies, to balance competition levels.
  • India will host New Zealand for three ODIs and five T20Is in January 2026 as a key warm-up for the T20 World Cup 2026.
